I studied biology with a focus on evolutionary biology and phylogeny at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. I also studied biology with a focus on ecology as well as evolutionary biology and
taxonomy at the University of Bielefeld. I also studied Religious Studies at the University of Bielefeld.
I worked in the interdisciplinary research group of Prof. Dr. Dr. Ina Wunn on the evolution of religion and religious ethology, first at the University of Bielefeld and later at the Gottfried
Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hanover.
At Bielefeld University, I worked in the Biological Collection in Dr. Manfred Kraemer's working group at the Faculty of Biology with a focus on Scarabaeoidea as well as Sauropsida and
Amphibia.
I am currently curating the insect collection of the Natural History Museum of the City of Bielefeld (namu) on a voluntary basis.
At the "LWL-Museum für Naturkunde mit Planetarium" in Münster I am currently working as a coleopterologist in the field of taxonomy of the onthophagine Scarabaeidae of the Palaearctic and
Indomalayan realm.
I am currently chairman of the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft westfälischer Entomologen".
